The water depth of the suction bell mouth stipulated in this article should not be less than 0.3m is determined by the fact that the water pumps used in the building water supply system are not large and the pipe diameter of the suction pipe is not more than 200mm. When the pipe diameter of the suction pipe is more than 200mm, the water depth should be deepened accordingly, which can be calculated by 0.1m.

For the case that the water depth on the suction bell mouth is less than 0.3m, the common method is to add a horizontal anti-vortex plate at the horn mouth edge. The diameter of the anti-vortex plate is twice the diameter of the horn mouth edge, I .e. the pipe diameter of the suction pipe is 1D, the diameter of the horn mouth edge is 2D, and the outer diameter of the anti-vortex plate is 4D.

The installation size requirements of other suction pipes in this article are for the normal water absorption when the pump is working and to avoid mutual interference between adjacent pumps.
