The self-filling and water absorption of the domestic water supply pump does not require the pump to be located below the lowest water level of the storage tank. The self-filling suction pump cannot be started at the lowest water level of the storage tank. Therefore, the storage tank should set a pump-starting water level according to the self-filling requirements of the pump. When the water level is above the pump-starting water level, the pump is allowed to start. When the water level is below the pump-starting water level, the pump is not allowed to start. However, the pump already in operation should continue to run and stop automatically when the pump reaches the minimum water level of the storage tank (as long as long as long as required, it can continue to operate even below the minimum water level). Therefore, the pump top discharge hole of the horizontal centrifugal pump and the first stage (section) pump body of the suction end of the vertical multistage centrifugal pump can be placed below the lowest design water level elevation.

The internal surface of the water pump and the inner surface of the pressure water chamber (also known as the volute) are rusted and uneven.
